Roundup® Weed Killer:

Used on Crops and May Make People Sick

It’s a common product used in agriculture and on yards, gardens, and government properties:

  • Roundup is used to kill weeds.
  • It’s used in the process of raising corn, wheat, soybeans, sugar beets, alfalfa, cotton, and more.
  • Roundup is also used with genetically modified (GMO) plants. The crops have been genetically modified to be resistant to Roundup; when Roundup is sprayed on them, the crops survive but other plants around them die.

Glyphosate in Roundup® Weed Killer

Can Cause Cancer

Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup. In 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer said glyphosate is “probably carcinogenic” based on its review of scientific studies on glyphosate.

In 2017, glyphosate was added to the list of chemicals “known to the State of California to cause cancer.”

In February 2019, researchers at the University of Washington published a report finding that exposure to glyphosate may increase the risk of non-Hodgkin lymphoma by as much as 41 percent.
